Subject: Letter of Reference – Winston Prince
I have known Winston Prince since September 20xx when we met during the Orientation Programme as we began our careers at Bromberg L.P.
As a colleague, I quickly developed a sense of respect and admiration for Winston. Even in those early days, it was evident to me that he was a bright, thoughtful, and articulate person. I could also see that he was very passionate about whatever he did or believed, with a natural ability to engage others.
Winston and I both started our careers in analytics. His thirst for knowledge meant that he was constantly learning about different areas of the markets. It was not long before we were all turning to him for help with client questions. Our careers followed similar paths into Sales, where Winston’s passion and work ethic quickly earned him the recognition and respect of management. He was soon promoted to manage the North of England account.
Working with Winston on a number of projects and sales teams I could see that he was a highly focused, energetic and driven professional. He consistently took on challenging roles and then performed over and above what was expected of him. It was the norm for him to over-deliver.
Winston is a natural leader and doesn’t hesitate to assume a leadership role. Due to frequent requests from his peers for help, he took it upon himself to organise weekly clinics on Excel and Fixed Income software, in which he answered his colleague’s questions. With his quick intellect and natural sense of humour, Winston added a lot of charm and wit to his seminars and workshops. In fact, he is one of the rare few who can keep an audience interested in subjects as dry as “bond math swap valuation”.
I always admired Winston’s sense of purpose and discipline, when during our train journeys back to London he would find time to run through his CFA flash cards. He has an amazing ability to focus and compartmentalize, and he never loses sight of his goals.
I believe that Winston’s departure was a great loss to our sales team and to the company as a whole.
Based on my experience working with Winston Prince, I can strongly recommend him as a candidate for any business program to which he might apply. I am confident he would make an invaluable contribution to that institution. If you have any further questions please don’t hesitate to contact me at + 44 xx xxxx xxx xxx.
